The Town of Penetanguishene offers a variety of volunteer opportunities such as our different council positions, our swim program and special events. We are always looking for friendly, outgoing volunteers to share their skills and time to assist us with our programs. Resumes should be addressed to the Recreation Community Services Department and can be sent via mail, e-mail or fax.

The Ontario Senior Games Association - Simcoe County District 28 is looking for VOLUNTEERS and would be pleased to meet with groups whose members might be interested

The Ontario Senior Games Association (OSGA) is composed of 41 Districts across the province.  In these districts are 12,000 participants who take part in a variety of summer and winter sports and activities. These events are open to anyone over the age of 55 who reside in Ontario. Regardless of age, gender or athleticism, the OSGA offers a sport or activity that is right for everyone.  

The mission of the OSGA is to promote active living and provide the 55+ population with an opportunity to increase social interaction, improve physical and mental well-being and enhance psychological and physiological well-being through participation in recreational sports and activities.   


Presently the OSGA hold annual summer and winter District Games, and Regional and Provincial Games in offset years. For more information visit www.ontarioseniorgames.ca

The Simcoe District 28 Games will be held from April to June, 2015.  We are looking for volunteers to coordinate activities and to determine what events will take place and in which communities.

The types of volunteers needed are:

  • District Committee Members - Chair or Co-chair (President, Vice President, Secretary, Games Coordinator)
  • Event Coordinators for any of the district events such as Euchre, Golf, Tennis, Swimming, Pickleball, etc
  • Day of event volunteers (a couple of hours or a couple of days) to help with the actual event.

The Central Regional Summer Games will be held on August 26, 2015 in Midland.  Bronze, Silver and Gold winners from the District Event will advance to the Central Regional Games. See attached for information on the Regional Games.

The Ontario 55+ Summer Games are a celebration of active living uniting participants 55 years of age and older in a multi-sport environment.  

The 2015 Central Region 55+ Summer Games will take place in Midland, Ontario on Wednesday, August 26th with competition for 364 athletes in 16 events. The planned activities will include:

Bid Euchre                            5 Pin Bowling                      Pool (8 Ball)

Bocce                                     Floor Shuffleboard                        Scrabble

Darts                                      Golf Calloway                      Swimming Sprint

Duplicate Bridge                 Lawn Bowling                      Tennis

Euchre                                   Pickle Ball                             Walking Prediction                       

5 Km Run                                                                                         

                                                                       

District 28-Simcoe County will host the event. The Districts represented are Durham Region; Haliburton County; Hastings/Lennox/Addington/Prince Edward; Muskoka/Parry Sound; Simcoe County; Victoria/Peterborough/Northumberland and York Region.

A Committee has been formed to assist in the organization of the Games and 60 volunteers are required.
