Building Department Province of Ontario Changes to the Ontario Building Code
These changes are part of ongoing efforts to improve the Ontario Building Code. They are intended to support Ontario’s businesses, protect public safety, enhance consumer protection and support the development of a greener Ontario. The Building Department is part of the Planning & Development Department of the Town of Penetanguishene . The role of the Building Department is to advise Council, the general public and the development industry on matters falling under the Building Code Act and the Ontario Building Code . The Chief Building Official (CBO) and Building Inspector are provided with the authority to carry out the administrative and enforcement functions under the Building Code Act and Ontario Building Code. Council does not have the authority to amend, change or ignore matters prescribed under the Building Code Act and the Ontario Building Code.
