Upcoming Changes to Midland Penetanguishene Transit - New Smart Cards and New Transit Rates

Posted on Friday December 06, 2019

The Town of Penetanguishene Public Works Department would like to advise the riders of the Midland Penetanguishene Transit, that on October 23, 2019  Council approved a series of transit fare increases.

The first, which has taken effect on October 23, 2019, is an increase to the electronic fare cards (i.e. Smart Cards) from $3.00/card to $3.25/card.

The Transit fare increases are as follows, effective January 1, 2020:

Existing Fare

Increased Fare

Adult Cash Fare

Senior/Student Cash Fare

Adult Electronic Fare

Senior/Student Electronic Fare

A reminder that New cards are now available that have a unique 14-digit card number which allows for more security for the user. In the event a card is lost or stolen, the card number can be used to look up the user's account in our system, and it can then be blocked/cancelled so that the user's pre-paid funds are not being used. Those funds can then be transferred to a new card.

If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contract the undersigned.
