Enjoy a leisurely morning cup of tea with tarts inside an original 1875 general store. Wander the museum and encounter "Mary Beck" and hear about the former lumber baron Charles Beck and his family. Observe local artisans at work, and experience skills of the past including ice cream making, quill writing, quilters and rug hooking. Event is $8 per person and runs on July 11 & 25, August 15 & 22 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Reservations are available, drop-ins are welcomed. The emphasis of our garden selection is “real gardens created by real people”, with a limited offering of professionally landscaped properties. All ticket sales in 2018 will benefit our partner; Big Brothers Big Sisters of North Simcoe. The Georgian Bay Garden Tour is managed by a dedicated group of volunteers, who raise separate funds for promotion and advertising, so that all ticket sales are directed to our community partner. Keeler has an MFA from the School at the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) Renee van der Avoird (Assist. Curator of Canadian Art at the Art Gallery of Ontario) Renée van der Avoird is the Assistant Curator of Canadian Art at the Art Gallery of Ontario, Toronto. Previously held positions include Associate Curator/Registrar at the MacLaren Art Centre, Barrie; Curatorial Mentor at the Art Museum at the University of Toronto, Toronto; and Assistant Director of Susan Hobbs Gallery, Toronto. She holds a B.A. in French Studies and Fine Arts from Wilfrid Laurier University and a Masters in Museum Studies from the University of Toronto. Carol-Ann Ryan (Art Advisor & Project Manager with Kalaman+Demetriou) Carol-Ann Ryan is a visual arts professional with experience teaching, writing, curating and managing collections. Ryan has held positions at the AGO, Toronto’s Museum of Contemporary Art, Vancouver Art Gallery, and MacLaren Art Centre. Currently an Art Advisor & Project Manager with Kalaman+Demetriou in Toronto, Ryan also serves as the Vice-Chair of the Public Art Committee for the City of Barrie. Carol-Ann holds an honours B.A. in Art & Art History from the University of Toronto and an M.A. in Art History from Western University.
