KICKSTART is a self-directed drop-in program for teens grades 9-12. Facilitated by a local artist, KICKSTART encourages young artists to imagine, plan, create and share art-based projects and events to develop skills for the arts industry. Along with exploring new art forms, teens will learn the stages of project design, planning and implementation with opportunities to execute various community based projects and exhibitions. Throughout the year, teens will get a chance to visit with guest artists and professionals who will provide insight into their careers in the arts industry. Our goal is to provide teens a safe space to explore, discover, expand and share their creativity

WHAT TO EXPECT:

- 1km loop that circles around our historic site.
- A free wagon shuttle that picks visitors up and takes them down to our Garrison Hall and Skate Blade Café warming centre where you can purchase selling hot chocolate, refreshments and snacks.
- A snowshoe trail will run throughout the historic site. Bring your own snowshoes or borrow ours.
- “Ice & Fire” nights: Fireworks every Friday at 7:30 pm.
- Skates, helmets and snowshoes are free of charge.
- Out-of-doors, there will be a Crokicurl rink for visitors to try their hand at this outdoor curling style game.
- On the weekends, you can roast bannock on the outdoor fires.
- Small kids snow tube run for the littles.

Winterama is an annual outdoor event set upon the beautiful shores of Georgian Bay in Penetanguishene.  We are currently planning for the 72nd consecutive year, making Winterama the longest standing winter carnival in Ontario. As a celebration of Canadian seasonality, Winterama is an opportunity to renew an interest in outdoor activity; enhance community spirit and pride through people, partnership and products; share the heritage and culture of the community and welcome families, friends and visitors alike in a winter celebration.
