Strategic Plan

Jun
26

Date: June 26, 2019

Location: Council Chambers - 10 Robert Street West, Penetanguishene

Category: Town Organized

Join us on Wednesday June 26, 2019 at 2pm to talk Strategic Planning!  There will be door prizes, snacks and refreshments, but more importantly and opportunity for you to say how you would like to see our Town grow and succeed in the comming years.

The goal and intent of the plan is to achieve a strategic scope that is reflective of the principles, values, physical and fiscal resources, and collective will of the residents. By focusing on a longer term and vision for the Town, there's a potential for the plan to be utilized over a longer period and by more than one term of Council. Rather than simply reacting to change, the Town can use the strategic planning process to examine issues and concerns. The results of this project not only have countless benefits for Council but it will assist staff in making appropriate recommendations that are consistent with the corporate mission, vision and goals.

Through a request for proposal process, Council decided to engage a neutral and objective third party to assist and guide Council and staff in the development of a community based strategic plan. The Municipal Strategic Planning Associates were the successful proponent and will be assisting the Town through the Strategic Plan process.

A large part of the project will be engaging residents, businesses and other community service based groups/agencies to identify and define the key values held by the community with respect to key services and future vision. A part of that process will include a comprehensive public consultation process which will be guided by the consultants.

At this event, all interested residents will be invited to a public meeting to discuss the Strategic Plan project and obtain feedback, ideas and direction for Council moving forward.  Hope to see you there!

Georgian Bay Garden Tour

Date: July 13, 2019

Location: various locations throughout North Simcoe County

Category: External Community Event

Each year, from the third week in July through to the end of September, two volunteers who love gardens and gardening are on a mission. They visit an average 150 – 200 locations to find just the right mix of garden treasures for you to enjoy the following year. With the purchase of a Georgian Bay Garden Tour ticket for $25.00, you too will enjoy the fruits of that search. In 2019 we will celebrate 25 years of garden tours in the southern Georgian Bay region. There will be 25 gardens including 2 farms to visit. We feature real gardens created by their owners with an occasional professionally landscaped property design. From urban to rural, tiny spaces to acreage and sustainable organic farming, there is something to peak everyone’s interests. All ticket proceeds benefit local charities and we have partnered with Hospice Huronia who is celebrating 25 years of service in the community as well.
