Thinking of running in the 2022 Municipal Election?

Filing your Nomination

​To run for the office of Mayor, Deputy Mayor or Councillor, candidates must file Nomination Papers. 

Nomination Papers may be filed by making an in-person appointment with the Clerk's Office commencing Monday May 2, 2022 to Thursday August 18, 2022, during regular office hours (8:30 a.m. to 4:30p.m.) and Friday August 19, 2022 (Nomination Day) from 8:30a.m. to 2:00p.m.  Electronic filing will not be permitted.

To file, please bring the following:

Acceptable identification for proof of identity and residence
Form 1 - Nomination Paper
Filing Fee ($200 Mayor, $100 All other offices)
Form 2 - Endorsement of Nomination 
Form EL18 - Declaration of Qualifications Municipal Candidates
Form LC02 - Freedom of Information Release

If an agent is filing the Nomination Paper on behalf of a candidate, the candidate's declaration must be commissioned prior to the agent filing it with the Town.

Once nomination papers have been filed, a candidate's campaign period begins and the candidate is officially able to begin campaigning for office and incurring campaign expenses. No money can be raised or spent in regard to a campaign until nomination papers have been filed.
