Canada Post Strike: How it affects Town services

The Canadian Union of Postal Workers launched a national strike as of September 25, 2025.

Per Canada Post: Mail and parcels will not be processed or delivered for the duration of the national strike, and some post offices will be closed. Service guarantees are suspended for items already in the postal network.

Utility Bills

The Town of Penetanguishene's utility bills for the third quarter of 2025—covering the period from July 1 to September 30—will be calculated and issued in the coming weeks. Should the Canadian Union of Postal Workers strike remain ongoing at that time, a separate public notice will be issued to inform residents of the payment due date.

How to receive your Town of Penetanguishene Utility Bills during the Canada Post strike:

  • Sign up for E-Billing! Choose to receive your quarterly utility bills directly to your email. Sign up today by completing the Utility E-Billing Enrollment Form.

  • Visit the Municipal Office at 10 Robert Street West during regular business hours (Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm) to pick up a physical copy of your current bill.

Reminder: Failure to receive a bill or notice does not relieve a property owner from payment or liability for any applicable late payment penalties. Additionally, the Finance Department staff do not have the authority to waive penalty or interest charges.

Individuals who have recently purchased property in Penetanguishene are also encouraged to contact the Finance Department to ensure that you receive your bills.
