Council Highlights, August 10, 2022

Council

  • Mayor Leroux proclaimed October 18, 2022 be designated the 22nd annual "Child Care Worker & Early Childhood Educator Appreciation Day" in recognition of the education, dedication and commitment of child care workers to children, their families and quality of life of the community.
  • Council received a presentation from the Georgian Bay Cancer Support Centre regarding the Garden of Hope.
  • Council received a presentation from Sajecki Planning regarding the Town Dock Secondary Plan and Master Plan
  • Council received a memo to Council regarding Short Term Rental Licensing By-law.
  • Council approved that a bylaw be passed for the Consent Agreements for 284 Watson Road and 11 Oakdale Court respectively, as presented.
  • Council directed staff to schedule a Statutory Public Meeting for an Official Plan Amendment (OPA-2022-01) to adopt the Town Dock Secondary Plan and Master Plan and to receive feedback on the revised designs.
  • Council approved the Champlain Shores (formerly Bay Moorings Marina) Subdivision Agreement as presented.
  • Council approved the additional funding required to complete the remaining work required for Phase 2 of the Payette Drive Drainage Improvements project as outlined.
  • Council approved the Georgian Bay Cancer Support Centre’s (GBCSC) request for partial closure of the Curling Club parking lot inclusive of the entrance from Owen Street.

Committee of the Whole

Committee of the Whole (Committee) facilitates the decision-making process of Council. The Committee is comprised of all members of Council who fully participate in debate and forward recommendations to Council for final decision. Items that are discussed in Committee of the Whole are to be ratified at Council’s next meeting.
