Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Advisory Committee, Now Accepting Applications

Municipal services touch the lives of every Penetanguishene resident and visitor to our community. Addressing social inequities will ensure that our services address the needs of all our citizens, providing long-term sustainability, and improving the well-being of the community. The Town of Penetanguishene is committed to developing actions to improve diversity, equity, and inclusion both within the organization as well as within the community.

Our community is becoming more and more diverse and so are the needs and aspirations of its residents and visitors. For this reason, we need to incorporate this reality into how we communicate, engage, plan, and deliver services so we can remain relevant, meaningful and effective.

The Town of Penetanguishene Council affirmed their support for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion when they passed a motion to join the Coalition of Inclusive Municipalities on October 14, 2020. The objectives of the coalition are to improve municipal practices for social inclusion, establish policies to eradicate racism and discrimination, and promote human rights and diversity through a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Advisory Committee.

This committee will provide support to staff in the drafting and implementation of a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Action Plan and shall provide recommendations, advice, and information to Council and staff on matters pertaining to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

The Town currently has 5 vacancies open. If you are interested in joining the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Advisory Committee, please complete the application form and submit it to the Town Clerk, Stacey Cooper.
