Main Street Reconstruction Update - August 3, 2018

There is excitement in the air as some of our local business owners have cheerfully identified that the asphalt is now in place on the hill.  Works have been completed in the Robert Street intersection, with the exception of streetscaping and traffic signalization which will be occurring in the coming weeks. JB Enterprises Ltd. has completed the following work for the week ending August 3, 2018:

  • Place Granulars on Main Street from Robert Street heading south in preparation for road bed construction and asphalt.

With the reopening of the Robert Street intersection in the eastbound and westbound direction only, stop signs have been placed in the appropriate locations.  Please obey the stop signs as they will allow pedestrian traffic to safely cross the intersection until such time as the traffic signalization is in place.

When Tuesday August 7th arrives, the intersection at Poyntz Street will be closed as the work in the intersection will commence.  The detour will be set up at Jeffery Street to send all traffic eastbound and around to Robert Street east to cross at the Robert Street and Main Street Intersection.  A map has been attached to identify the route to be taken if you are looking to get to the west end of town.  JB Enterprises has assured both the Town and the Village Square Mall merchants that access will be provided at all times to the property off Main Street.  This will most likely mean the installation of a temporary access so please watch for the Mall access locations as they may change over the course of the next 2-3 weeks.
