Notice – For the Repeal and Replacement of the Traffic/Parking By-law 2022-02, as amended

This notice has been issued by the Town of Penetanguishene Public Works Department, in accordance with the Implementation of Traffic/Parking By-law Amendments Policy, to inform residents and businesses that the following changes to the Traffic and Parking By-law 2022-02 are being proposed by Town staff.

The existing by-law will also be repealed and replaced with a new by-law that will consolidate all the amendments since the passage of By-law 2022-02.

PART II

USE OF HIGHWAYS

(NEW)

  1. (3) The Director of Public Works or designate is hereby authorized to place, erect and maintain or cause to be placed, erected and maintained such traffic control devices and traffic control signs that are required to give effect to the provisions of this by-law and/ or which are authorized by the Schedules to this by-law

(4) The Director of Public Works or designate, notwithstanding the other provisions of this By-law, is further authorized for the duration of the situation to place, erect or maintain such traffic control devices, including signs, and traffic control signals that are not authorized by this by-law but are required for safety, monitoring, construction and/ or emergency reasons.

(NEW) Section 18 BICYCLE LANE SEASONAL CLOSURES

  1. (1) The highway or portions of highways set out in Column 1 of Schedule “AA” of this By-law at the locations named in Column 2 and for the time periods set out in Column 3 of the said Schedule are deemed to be closed bicycle lanes.

Section 20, Schedule “D” – Stop Signs –

The removal of stop signs at the following locations:

  • Removal of the stop sign on Gateway Lane, in the eastbound direction, at its intersection with Bridle Road.

Section 21, Schedule “E” – Yield Signs –

The installation of a yield sign at the following locations:

  • Installation of a yield sign on Gateway Lane, in the eastbound direction, at its intersection with Bridle Road.

Section 23, Schedule “G” – Prohibited Turns –

The removal of the Prohibited Turns at the following locations:

Section 26 (1) – Rate of Speed and Schedule “J”

The reduction of the posted speed limit at the following locations:

  • Posted speed limit reduction on Beck Boulevard (East Service Road), from 50 km/hr to 40 km/hr.
  • Posted speed limit reduction on Tessier Lane, from 50 km/hr to 25 km/hr.
  • Posted speed limit reduction on Pine Grove Road, from 60 km/hr to 50 km/hr.
  • Posted speed limit reduction on Jury Drive, from 50 km/hr to 40 km/hr.

Section 36 (1), Schedule “N” – Fire Routes

The revision of the Fire Route Schedule as follows:

The addition of a “No Parking” zone at the following locations:

  • Posted “No Parking” on Robert Street West, north side from Owen Street to 19 Robert Street West.

  1. (3) No person shall park a vehicle or any part of a vehicle in an Electric Vehicle Parking Space where such vehicle is not an Electric Vehicle.

(4)No person shall park a vehicle or any part of a vehicle in an Electric Vehicle Parking Space where such vehicle is not connected to an Electric Vehicle Charging Station and charging.

Section 45 (3) and (4) and Schedule “V”

The addition of a “Designated Parking” area at the following locations:

The proposed changes to the Traffic/Parking By-law are being recommended for approval in a report being presented to the Committee of the Whole on June 14, 2023.
