Notice of Procedure By-law Public Information Centre

The Town of Penetanguishene is hosting a Public Information Centre to gather feedback on proposed changes as part of its ongoing review of the Town’s Procedural By-law. 

The Procedural By-law establishes the rules governing how Council meetings are conducted. As part of this review, Council is considering potential amendments, including possible changes to the start time of Council meetings, to ensure they remain accessible and convenient for residents. 

Some of the proposed changes staff are seeking feedback on through the Public Information Centre are: 

  • Provisions for Open Forum in an Election Year 
  • Addition of Strong Mayor Powers Regulations
  • Board and Committee Appointment Process
  • Board and Committee Structure
  • Consolidating Council and COW meetings into one evening 
  • Schedule Town meetings on alternate weeks as the County of Simcoe meetings
  • Timing of meetings
  • Timing of release of agendas
  • Council Information Packages (CIPs) on Council Agenda 
  • Proclamations

Residents are invited to attend one of the upcoming Public Information Centre sessions to learn more and share their feedback:

Time Options: 2:00 p.m - 3:00 p.m or 6:00 p.m - 7:00 pm 
Location: Council Chambers, Town of Penetanguishene, 10 Robert Street West 

For those unable to attend in person, feedback can also be provided through an online survey available from June 1 to June 19, 2026.
