Notice of the Potential Relocation of the Canada Post Office at 36 Main Street – Feedback required by September 16, 2021

Canada Post has recently notified our office of the potential move of the Post Office currently located at 36 Main Street.

Canada Post is proposing this relocation because the existing site no longer meets their needs. They advised that moving to a new location would not cause a reduction in service to the community and would enable the office to modernize and upgrade their service delivery, which would improve the customer experience.

Over the next month, Canada Post is undertaking a public consultation before deciding whether or not to relocate this post office. Residents and business owners who would like to provide feedback are being asked to visit their website here canadapost.ca/retail or send a letter directed to Retail Feedback, 2701 Riverside Drive, suite N1020, Ottawa Ontario, K1A 0B1 to offer their comments about the proposed relocation.  Canada Post representatives have advised us that this request for public input is set to be open until September 16, 2021

Canada Post advised that they are exploring different sites with the expectation that a new site will be within 2 kilometers of the existing location. If the decision to move is made, they note that a new location will allow the Post Office to continue to provide local residents and businesses with convenient and accessible postal service. We are told that customers will be provided with at least one month’s notice and all postal box customers would retain their postal boxes at the new location. Postal box customers will not have a change to their postal box number and/or postal code address.

Canada Post has explained that if the Post Office were to move, shipping operations would remain in the current facility. Although not accessible to residents, the office would still be maintained and occupied by Canada Post.

Additional information regarding this potential move is attached as a PDF document.
