Penetanguishene and Midland Fire Departments teams with the Canadian Red Cross to promote fire safety in our communities

The Penetanguishene and Midland Fire Departments are pleased to work alongside Canadian Red Cross’ Meals on Wheels program to offer free home fire safety checks and smoke alarms to our communities. The program aims to promote fire safety and prevent home fire incidents.

"We are thrilled to partner with the Canadian Red Cross to provide this life-saving program to our communities," said Penetanguishene and Midland Fire Chief Richard Renaud. "We believe that prevention is the key to fighting fires, and with free home safety checks and smoke alarm installations, we can help keep our community safe and prepared."

Through this initiative, residents who qualify for the Meals on Wheels program may receive a complimentary inspection of their home which will identify potential fire hazards and the installation of a new smoke alarm. Our firefighters will work closely with volunteers from the Red Cross to provide residents using the Meals on Wheels program with information on fire safety best practices, from developing a fire escape plan to actively testing their smoke alarms.
