Seeking Applications for Town Advisory Committees/Boards

The Town of Penetanguishene relies on the expertise of volunteers in the community and appoints approximately 55 public appointments to one of the many boards and committees.   

 Currently, the Town of Penetanguishene is seeking applications for the Economic Advisory Committee.

This new Committee will replace the Business Recovery Task Force and will include local business owners and entrepreneurs to help stay informed about Town initiatives, identify priority action items, and be responsible for guidance on actions items identified by the Business Retention and Expansion Study (BR&E).

The objectives of the Economic Advisory Committee is to:

  • Inform businesses of funding available for business improvements;
  • Identify priorities to promote business development and retention;
  • Provide recommendations for future Town programs and initiatives;
  • Assist in the implementation of action items identified in the BR&E Study;
  • Report findings back to Council periodically or when needed.

The Town is looking for business owners and entrepreneurs from all sectors in the town (membership is not limited to downtown). The first official meeting will be held in the early spring of 2022, as such the deadline to apply has been set to Friday, January 28, 2022.

The Town is also looking to fill vacancies in the Transit Committee, which is an advisory committee reporting to the Transportation and Environmental Services Section Committee of Council and the new Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Advisory Committee created to improve municipal practices for social inclusion, establish policies to eradicate racism and discrimination, and promote human rights and diversity.

Those who wish to apply must submit an application form to the Town Clerk, Stacey Cooper. A listing and description of all advisory committees can be found on the Town website.  A copy of the application form is available online or may be picked up at Townhall. Supplementary information (i.e. resumes, cover letters) may be attached with the application.
