Seniors Active Living Centre Announcement
The Town of Penetanguishene is thrilled to announce the launch of the new Penetanguishene 55+ Centre, funded by the Ministry for Seniors and Accessibility through the Seniors Active Living Centre (SALC) program.
This exciting initiative will build upon the Town’s existing senior programming and services to offer a range of inclusive and reduced-rate programs focused on physical wellness, social connection, and lifelong learning. The Centre also serves as a go-to resource for seniors seeking information, support, and meaningful ways to stay engaged, with a welcome desk open Mondays 1pm – 4pm, Wednesdays 10am – 4pm, and Fridays 10am – 4pm.
On September 4, representatives from MPP Jill Dunlop’s office joined members of the community at the Town’s Annual Seniors’ BBQ at the Penetanguishene Memorial Community Centre. Their visit provided an opportunity to celebrate the Town’s ongoing commitment to supporting seniors, while also sharing in an afternoon of food, music, and fellowship.
“Seniors Active Living Centres are helping to protect the well-being of seniors by providing opportunities to stay connected and engaged in their communities. We are honoured to support the Town of Penetanguishene’s 55+ Centre, which will provide a vibrant community hub for seniors to socialize, learn new skills and be active,” said Raymond Cho, Minister for Seniors and Accessibility.
“I’m proud to see the Town of Penetanguishene receive funding through the Seniors Active Living Centres program to launch the new Penetanguishene 55+ Centre. This investment will support inclusive, engaging programs that promote health, connection, and well-being for older adults in our community. By creating a welcoming space for seniors to stay active and involved, we are strengthening the fabric of our community for generations to come.” – Jill Dunlop, MPP North Simcoe
“With a 55+ population in Penetanguishene exceeding that of the provincial average, the Town is proud and excited to be opening this new Centre right here at home. Penetanguishene is grateful to the Province of Ontario for expanding the SALC program, ensuring that our seniors can continue to thrive.” – Mayor Doug Rawson, Town of Penetanguishene
