The Town of Penetanguishene mourns the loss of Gabriel Brunelle, former Councillor

The Town of Penetanguishene is saddened to hear of the recent passing of Gabriel “Gabe” Brunelle, former Councillor for the municipality, on the morning of January 19, 2026.

Gabe Brunelle was the father of current Tiny Councillor, Dave Brunelle, and served as a Penetanguishene Councillor in the early 2000's.

The flags at the Municipal Office have been lowered to half-mast in recognition of this profound loss.

Mayor Doug Rawson expressed his sympathy for the Brunelle family. “Gabe Brunelle dedicated many years to serving our community, and his contributions have left a lasting impact on the Town of Penetanguishene. On behalf of Council and staff, I extend our deepest condolences to the Brunelle family during this difficult time. Gabe’s commitment to public service will not be forgotten.”
