Town Awards 2026 Youth Endowment Fund in Recognition of Youth Week
Penetanguishene, ON - In celebration of National Youth Week, observed annually from May 1 to 7, the Town of Penetanguishene is pleased to announce the recipient of the 2026 Youth Endowment Fund. National Youth Week highlights the important role youth play in shaping strong, inclusive, and vibrant communities.
Administered through the Town’s Wellness and Accessibility Committee, the Youth Endowment Fund provides financial support each year to a local youth or youth group whose activities promote Penetanguishene through athletic, artistic, educational, or cultural pursuits, while also giving back to the community through volunteer engagement.
Established in 2011 through a partnership with the Huronia Communities Foundation, the Fund helps empower local youth by supporting skill development, leadership, and community involvement.
For 2026, the Wellness and Accessibility Committee is proud to recognize École Secondaire Le Caron – Junior and Senior Tennis Teams as the Youth Endowment Fund recipient. Funding will support enhanced training opportunities and competitive experiences for student‑athletes, strengthening tennis development and encouraging excellence both on and off the court.
“The Town of Penetanguishene is proud to support initiatives that create meaningful opportunities for local youth to build skills, lead active lifestyles, and represent our community with pride,” said Sherry Desjardins, Director of Recreation and Community Services. “Investing in our youth helps ensure a healthy and vibrant future for Penetanguishene.”
Representatives from the Le Caron tennis teams will attend an upcoming Council meeting to share how the Youth Endowment Fund assisted them in giving back to the community and advancing youth sport in Penetanguishene.
