Town of Penetanguishene Launches Spring Clean‑Up Operations

The Town of Penetanguishene Roads Department is beginning its annual Spring Street Clean‑Up operations starting Tuesday, April 7, 2026, weather permitting.

Spring clean‑up activities focus on removing winter sand and debris from roadways, sidewalks, and municipal parking lots. This work improves traffic safety, enhances air quality by reducing dust, and prepares streets for the spring and summer seasons. Operations will take place primarily during evening hours.

Street cleaning will be completed through a six‑phase schedule, beginning with the Town’s main roadways and progressing through all residential neighbourhoods. Phase 1 will concentrate on major arterial roads, the downtown core, and municipal parking areas, followed by Phases 2 through 6, which will address the remaining streets across the community.

The complete phasing schedule and street locations are outlined on the attached official Spring Street Clean‑Up Map.

During spring clean‑up, residents may see several pieces of heavy equipment operating within work zones, including a water truck, sidewalk sweeping machine, front‑end loaders, a street sweeper, and a tandem dump truck. Motorists and pedestrians are asked to exercise caution when travelling near these areas.

To support safe and efficient operations, residents and businesses are asked to remove vehicles and objects from roadways during street sweeping and to place garbage, recycling, and green bins in driveways rather than on the road on waste collection days while sweeping is underway. These measures help prevent damage and allow crews to complete their work effectively.

The Town of Penetanguishene appreciates the cooperation of residents and businesses during Spring Street Clean‑Up operations and apologizes for any inconvenience this essential work may cause.
