Town of Penetanguishene offers Municipal Services by appointment only, effective January 4, 2022

(Penetanguishene) - In consultation with the Chief Medical Officer of Health, the Town of Penetanguishene has made the conscious decision to operate all Town Facilities by appointment only, effective January 4th, 2022 at 8:00a.m.

These measures are being taken in response to the rapid increase in COVID-19 transmission, the threat on the province's hospital system capacity, and the increasing risks posed to the public by Omicrom COVID-19 variant.

“It is important that we set an example as a municipality and continue to do our part in reducing the spread of COVID-19” says Mayor Doug Leroux. “Staff will continue to be available for residents and are happy to help residents navigate services online or over the phone. Operating by appointment simply means that our services are safer for the community, and we are doing our part in limiting the spread.”

In order to serve our community better we ask that all visitors adhere to all provincial regulations, including wearing a face covering, utilizing hand sanitizer and keeping 6 feet apart when in the office buildings.

Staff will be available by phone or email during regular working hours to answer any inquiries that do not require an in-person visit or appointment. A full staff directory is available here. We appreciate our community’s patience and understanding during this transition.

“Since the arrival of COVID-19, residents have done an incredible job of following public health guidelines. The Town’s Emergency Management Team have been in consistent contact throughout the pandemic to ensure that our Municipality operates under proper procedures and does what is best for our community, staff and operations” said CAO Jeff Lees. “Over the past year, staff have done an amazing job at getting online services up and running, reducing the need for in person visits to municipal buildings.”
