Town of Penetanguishene reminds residents of special waste management instructions for winter

As the seasons change, Penetanguishene residents are reminded that winter weather can make it difficult for waste collection operators to see and safely reach your garbage, green bin and recycling.

Please keep these reminders in mind when placing waste at the curb:

  • Place carts within eight feet of the traveled portion of the road, which ensures the automated arm can reach while allowing room for snow-clearing equipment to pass
  • When shoveling, clear a flat spot at the end of your driveway or at the curb for your carts
  • Don't place carts behind or on top of snowbanks
  • To prevent material from freezing or sticking, line your organics carts with newspaper or paper egg cartons
  • Inclement weather or poor road conditions may result in the cancellation of collection services, download the Simcoe County Collects mobile app to receive alerts specific to your collection area

As a reminder to residents, waste collection is performed by the County of Simcoe.   For a picture reference on how to properly display your carts during winter, please see the attachment picture provided, or visit Simcoe.ca.

If you have more questions regarding the cart collection or waste management provided through the County of Simcoe, please contact them directly.
