Council

  • Council received Verbal update from the Chief Administrative Officer regarding COVID-19 Municipal Impacts.
  • Council approved all recommendations in the April 14, 2021 Committee of the Whole Report as presented.
  • Council passed 8 by-laws including:
    • 2021-24 Being a By-law to Amend Zoning By-law 2000-02 as amended of the Corporation of the Town of Penetanguishene (77 Fox Street)
    • 2021-25 Being a By-law to Set the Rates of Taxation For the Year 2021
    • 2021-26 Being a By-law to Adopt the Budget Estimates of All Sums Required for the Year 2021
    • 2021-27 Being a By-law to Authorize the Entering into an Agreement with the Southern Georgian Bay Chamber of Commerce for the provision of Office Space for the 2021 season
    • 2021-28 Being a By-law to Authorize the Execution of an Agreement with Dr. José Etcheverry (York University) for the Operation of the Ecology Garden at 144 Fox Street, Penetanguishene (Agreement to follow)
    • 2021-29 Being a By-law to Authorize the Entering into of an Agreement with Sodrox Chemicals Limited for the Supply of Aluminum Sulphate for the Wastewater Treatment Process
    • 2021-30 Being a By-law to Authorize the Entering into of an Agreement with Sirati & Partners for the Supply of Geotechnical Engineering Services and Quality Assurance Testing
    • 2021-31 Being a By-Law to Amend By-law 2011-61 Being a By-Law to Authorize the Execution of an Agreement with Rogers Communications for the Installation of a Transmission Antenna on the Centennial Water Tower

Committee of the Whole

  • Committee received the Council information package from May 12, 2021 for information.
  • Committee received a Presentation from the Chief Administrative Officer regarding the Future of 51 Dunlop Street, Former Penetanguishene Secondary School.
  • Committee received a Presentation from Sajecki Planning regarding the Town Dock Secondary Plan.
  • Committee received a Presentation from Moe Lefaive - Chief Water Operator regarding Water Division Summary Reports, Inspections, Audits and Communications.
  • Committee received the December 2020 Transit Committee Meeting minutes for information.  
  • Committee received the Midland Penetanguishene Transit Ridership Quarterly update for information.
  • Committee approved that the Town of Penetanguishene enter into a one (1) year contract with G&J Paving to Supply, Deliver and carry out the Placement of Asphalt for the Tender 2021-08.
  • Committee approved the Option 2, as outlined with the staff for the Drainage Easement at 259 Champlain Road.
  • Committee approved the continued use of the two-shift system within the Roads Division during the 2021/2022 winter season.
  • Committee received the Winterama 2021 Post Event Report for information.
  • Committee received a memo with an update on the recent sales of municipal land.
  • Committee received a memo regarding the Business Recovery Task Force Meeting #11.
  • Committee received a memo noting that a Complete Application has been received for a Zoning By-law amendment at 39 Yeo Street and that a Public Meeting will be held on June 9, 2021.
  • Committee received a memo to council regarding Cloud Permit – Penetanguishene’s NEW Online Building Permit Tool.
  • Committee received a memo updating the status of the Queen’s Court Appeals at 221 Fox Street which has been adjourned.
  • Committee received a memo to Council regarding County of Simcoe Municipal Comprehensive Review and Public Meeting on June 8, 2021 at the County of Simcoe.
  • Committee received a memo to Council regarding Business Support Efforts since this initiation of the Business Recovery Task Force in 2020.
  • Committee approved support for Federal and Provincial Economic Investments in Priorities to Build Resilience for Severn Sound Watershed Municipalities and Coastal Communities - April 2021.
  • Committee received a referral Report – Concerns at 12 Byrnes Crescent for information.
  • Committee received the Draft Town Dock Secondary Plan and Master Plan report for information and discussion.   A Public Meeting to receive comments from the community on the project is set for May 26, 2021.
  • Committee approved an application to the County of Simcoe’s 2021 Economic Development Funding Program for Phase 2 of the Town Dock Secondary Plan being Option #1 in Staff Report PL-2021-31 for $50,000.
  • Committee received the Land Use Compatibility Assessment – Harbour Pointe Subdivision and deferred the report to staff for more information.  
  • Committee received a memo to Council regarding the Community Safety and Well Being Plan - Update #3.
  • Committee received a memo to Council regarding the CNCC Policing Costs Update #3 for information.
  • Committee approved the recommended action to pursue the agreement between the Town of Penetanguishene and the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit for the use of a Vaccination Clinic and that the Clerk be authorized to bring forward the necessary by-law for approval.
  • Committee approved the recommended option #1 Future of 51 Dunlop Street (Former Penetanguishene Secondary School)
