Council Highlights - March 13, 2019

Council

  • Council held a Public Meeting under the Planning Act regarding a proposed Zoning By-law Amendment for 45 Edward Street (formerly 31 Lucy Street). A presentation by MHBC Planning was given on behalf of the Georgian Bay Cancer Support Centre with respect to the proposed land use. Members of the public provided comments related to the proposal.
  • Council ratified the decisions from the Committee of the Whole meetings of February 13 and 20, 2019.
  • Council approved the appointments to the Committee of Adjustment, Museum & Heritage Committee, and Transit Committee.
  • Council passed six by-laws including an agreement for Animal Control Services, an agreement with the Ship’s Company, an amendment to the fees and rates of the Water Works Utility by-law, an agreement for Information Technology Support Services, to adopt the budget estimates and sums required for 2019, and the rates of remuneration for non-union staff.

Committee of the Whole (items that were discussed to be ratified at Council’s next meeting):

  • Committee approved the proposed amendment to the Traffic/Parking By-law.
  • Committee approved that staff proceed with the Great Trail Spring Clean-up grant application.
  • Committee approved the appointment of public members to the Zoning By-law Review Project Steering Committee.
  • Committee approved a contribution to Ecole Secondaire LeCaron for their music festival trip.
  • Committee received an update regarding the Regional Government Review from the Mayor and CAO.
  • Committee approved the proposed 2018 capital carry forward request and 2018 draft capital taxation surplus.
  • Committee passed a motion related to the Provincial Review of OMPF.
  • Committee approved the implementation of the Community Wellbeing Committee.
