Council

  • Council received a presentation from the Fire Chief for the Volunteer Firefighters Kurt Baumer, Ron Marchand, Pierre Genier and Steven Bellisle for 20, 25 and 35 years of service at the Penetanguishene Fire Department.
  • Council proclaimed May as Museum Month.
  • Council approved a partnership with the Ontario Musicians Co-Operative Inc.
  • Council ratified the decisions from the Committee of the Whole meetings of April 24, 2019 including deciding to review the request previously discussed at the last meeting from Southern Georgian Bay Physician Recruitment. Council approved the funding request in the amount of $8,500 for the year 2019 and would consider future funding during the 2020 budget process.
  • Council passed 1 by-law being that of setting the Rates of Taxation for the year 2019.

Committee of the Whole (items that were discussed to be ratified at Council’s next meeting):

  • Committee received the monthly Transit Ridership report.
  • Committee awarded the Streetlight Maintenance Tender for a two (2) year term to McNamara Power Line Construction Ltd.
  • Committee received a post-event report regarding the 2019 Winterama.
  • Committee approved the pre-servicing agreement for Harbour Pointe Phase 3.
  • Committee awarded the 2019 Asphalt Resurfacing Tender to Georgian Paving.
  • Committee approved the operation of the transit bus for shuttling during specific Special Events.
  • Committee awarded the purchase of four (4) fleet vehicles from Bourgeois Motors.
  • Committee received minutes from the Penetanguishene Main Street Art Ad-Hoc Committee, Library Board and the Museum & Heritage Advisory Committee.
  • Committee received a Memo regarding two appeals of Decisions of the Committee of Adjustment for a Minor Variance and Consent to Severance regarding 212 Gilwood Park Drive.
  • Committee approved the lifting of Part Lot Control for the properties at 27 to 37 Payette Drive to further subdivide the existing three (3) lots into six (6) lots for semi-detached dwellings.
  • Committee received the Customer Service Excellence Survey for the Public.
  • Committee received information regarding the award of the Corporate Strategic Plan to Municipal Strategic Planning Associates.
  • Committee approved the updated Financial Contributions to Community Organizations Policy with the deadline for funding requests being July 31st of each year.
  • Committee approved the 2020 Budget Timeline.
  • Committee approved the continuance of the shared services agreement with the Township of Georgian Bay for Human Resources and Health & Safety.
  • Committee approved the Fire Service Cost Recovery Fire Marque Program and the Wildland Firefighting Agreement with the County of Simcoe.
