Commemorative Trees & Benches

The commemorative tree and bench program allows the public to pay tribute to a person(s) or occasion by purchasing a park bench or tree for installation in a Town of Penetanguishene Park.

Benches are constructed by a local company and come with a bench engravement. Trees are locally sourced, native species that will add to the natural habitat of your preferred planting location.

Commemorative Tree

The tree donation program is a favourable way to honour a loved one or make a dedication to celebrate someone. The tree species listed below are available and will be a minimum of 50 mm (1.9”) in diameter at time of planting. Tree planting will happen in spring or fall and will be weather dependent. The purchaser will be notified to confirm date of tree planting. Each tree donation provides the opportunity to have a dedication plaque which is optional. Tree Plaque (wood plaque, engraving and install) is an additional $140

Commemorative Bench

The Town uses the contour bench style to give you the highest quality and longevity of the product available. Benches are six feet in length, cedar colour, maintenance-free, rot-proof, ultra-durable UV resistant, impact resistant, will not split or splinter, washable, and made from recycled plastic. Benches come with arm rests. There is a 50 year limited warranty. Examples of the bench can be viewed in Memorial Park and on the Town Dock. Engraving per Board –2” letters only is an additional $225 a board.

Application Process

Fill out an application and submit to the Facilities Manger.
Once the application is received, it will be reviewed and upon approval, the Town will contact you to arrange payment.
Once payment has been received, you will be called to arrange for an on-site meeting with Park staff.
